Nominating Twitter for Nobel Peace Prize???

There is a lot of buzz in the market about nominating twitter for nobel peace prize. That sounds ridiculous to me. I am not someone who hate twitter rather I use it every day and every hour. But isn’t it too much to nominate it for noble peace prize? And for what reason? Just because it gave people of Iran a platform to express and voice their opinion, when others channels were closed for them. twitter

If so then I have so many other nominations. Nokia for connecting people, Voice of America for voicing millions of American opinion, Iphones, Google, Digg and perhaps the list is endless.

I have another reason to rule and laugh out on the thought that proposed Twitter for nobel prize. To refer to a quote from Wikipedia- According to Nobel’s will, the Peace Prize should be awarded “to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”

Now can anyone tell me where Twitter fits into this criterion? Is it a human? Or can we actually find the contribution of Twitter so big that we can actually assign the value of being exception for that matter.

We are perhaps exaggerating and perhaps carrying it way ahead of the boundaries by nominating it for Nobel prize.

I humbly accept twitter as one of the most innovative platform of communication and can confess of being a twitter freak. But then just can’t digest the thought of nominating it for nobel peace prize.
